Candidate Profiles

I am a third-year sociology major whose work focuses on intersectionality, critical theory, and human rights. I have participated in the CUSA Think Tank for two years. I volunteer for CUSA Women’s Centre since my first year. I am also the student representative on Carleton’s Sexual Violence Prevention and Education committee, contributing to policy recommendations. Beyond Carleton, I volunteer as a research coordinator at the Canadian Pride Historical Society and on Amnesty International’s Gender Rights Specialized Team. I have collaborated with diverse community organizations across Ottawa through United Way Eastern Ontario and have developed significant analytical and research skills through Nanos Research. My name is Brooke Anderson, I’m the founder and president of Carleton Transit Riders, and on the board of Ottawa Transit Riders. I’ve been a committed activist for better transit for over a year now, and in that relatively short amount of time I have already founded a new organization here on campus, as well as been entrusted to re-write the structure of an existing city wide organization. I believe that its my experience as an activist, especially one experienced specifically in the top student issue, is what makes me the best candidate for Vice President of Student Issues

My name is Nathan Harlan, and I am a fourth year student in Political Science and European & Russian Studies. As Vice-President Student Issues, my sole focus will be to create a Student Union you can be proud of. This means going above and beyond to tackle issues which directly affect our day-to-day lives, including public transit, accessibility on campus, and reductions in provincial support for students. As a representative on CASG and my Departmental Board, I advanced student interests by speaking for motions opposing Carleton’s Draft AI Framework and Impartiality Policy, and supporting TAs and Contract Instructors. Independently, I collaborate with PIRG to advance Carleton’s accessibility. I hope to bring this experience to advance strong solutions to address student issues.

Georgia Anderson is a second-year Linguistics student with a passion for leadership and student life. Through executive positions on SciSoc, CUSA Clubs, and the Carleton Academic Student Government (CASG), she has developed a unique perspective on the desires of Carleton students. She believes that these experiences will bring a necessary understanding of the goals of students to the CUSA executive team. Georgia hopes to promote student involvement and excitement surrounding Carleton by leading with the dedication and positive energy she brings to every job. She strives for a transparent and collaborative community of student leaders through CUSA.

Ulises Gonzalez is a Carleton HTA undergraduate with a minor in Business, focused on strategic planning and reliable execution. He is President of HTAS, FASS Coordinator with CASG, and Secretary on the Board of BAC-DAC, a national nonprofit supporting emerging architects. He also served as Mawandoseg’s Programming Coordinator, leading inclusive programming that clarified the centre’s mandate and invited wider engagement with Indigenous topics. His experience includes planning and delivering events, coordinating stakeholders and building systems that make student life easier to run and access. As VP Student Life, Ulises will prioritize quality over quantity, strengthen club and service-centre supports, and improve access through practical partnerships and clear support pathways
