I am a first-year Computer Systems Engineering student at Carleton University and a varsity football player. I was a valedictorian candidate and earned second-team all-star recognition as a defensive lineman. Beyond football, I have volunteered with Relay for Life, helped establish a Bible study group, and participated in leadership and community initiatives. I am passionate about technology, fitness, leadership, and personal growth. I strive to excel academically while competing at a high level in football and building experience that will help me make a meaningful impact in engineering and my community.

Colin Carbonneau is running as a candidate for Faculty of Engineering and Design Councillor

I’m Greg Kapoor, a first year Aerospace Engineering student building with CUinspace and SAE Aero BlackBird. Engineering students pay some of the highest fees at Carleton while having too little say in what we get back.I want to tackle what students deal with: departments stacking assessments into the same week, unclear breakdowns of where our fees go, and design teams fighting for the resources to compete. As your councillor, I’ll push for shared assessment calendars, public fee breakdowns, and a stronger funding process for Engineering design teams. I’m already in the room where these problems happen.

I’m a fourth-year engineering student, club executive, and former EngFrosh team lead. I’ve served as D-Eng-D’s VP finance for the last year, making me familiar with CUSA Clubs and particularly their funding process. Like many others EngFrosh has core part of each year at Carleton and this past year as a team lead has allowed me a glimpse into what both my frosh and facilitators feeling were towards Carleton at large. I hope to bring this experience to the CUSA council and serve as a representative for not just Engineering and Design students but the entire student body.

My name is Abdul Rafay, and I’m a first-year Bachelor of Information Technology student at Carleton University. I’m passionate about technology, leadership, and building a stronger sense of community on campus. Throughout high school, I served as a Muslim Students’ Association leader, organizing events, fundraisers, and activities that brought students together. I’m running for CUSA to be a voice for students, listen to their concerns, and help create a more inclusive and connected university experience. Together, we can turn student voices into action. Vote for Abdul Rafay, and let’s make our campus better for everyone

I am Zipporah Ganama, I am a Health Sciences student at Carleton University who is passionate about student well-being, inclusion, and making sure students feel heard and supported. Through my involvement in the Health Sciences Society and other campus initiatives, I’ve developed a strong interest in advocacy and building a stronger sense of community. As a Faculty of Science CUSA Councillor, I want to represent students concerns, bring their voices to the table, and help create a campus environment where everyone feels included and supported. I’m ready to listen, speak up, and work with students to make meaningful changes at Carleton.

Rameen Kabir is a first year student in mathematics. He is deeply invested in politics and community and has a passion for public transit and other services. Throughout grade school and high school he has invested a lot of time volunteering to improve student life, help teachers with their projects, and especially tutoring younger students to help with their academics. In light of recent events, his priority will be improving campus safety for all students and social isolation. Lower costs for education and improving transit for everyone is also very important to him.

After being in CASG and currently in Carleton Senate. I must complete the trifecta of involving myself for Sprott students! I plan on working and communicating with Sprotties and ask for their opinions and if I should bring any situations up. I will always be open for a conversation!

My name is Adley Rajan and I’m a first-year Nursing student with a strong background in leadership, advocacy, and healthcare. Before coming to Carleton, I served as Co-President of my high school Student Council, represented more than 52,000 students through the OCSB Student Senate, and was selected as my graduating class valedictorian. My healthcare experiences include, a co-op position on a post-surgical floor, volunteering, and working in environmental services at The Ottawa Hospital. I’m ready to bring these experiences to CUSA and serve Faculty of Science students by listening to their concerns, representing their voices, and putting their needs first.

Ryan Monkman is a Special Student studying physics and calculus at Carleton. Outside the classroom, he raises three kids and makes wine and spirits for a living. He brings years of experience in leadership, budgeting, and running a small business. As a mature student returning to university nearly 20 years after first attending, Ryan hopes to bring that experience to CUSA Council while ensuring Special Students have a meaningful voice in student governance.

Hello, my name is Jade. I am majoring in Childhood and Youth Studies with minors in Critical Race Studies and Disability Studies. A primary interest of mine in running for council is solidifying stronger accessibility policy for CUSA. I want Carleton to live up to its reputation as what many refer to as “Canada’s Most Accessible University”. I believe that accessibility should extend to student life within and outside of the classroom, and that the whole community benefits when disability justice is a core focus of leadership and accountability. I hope that I can bring this commitment to council!

I am in my third year of Sociology, and my experience centers around community engagement and empowerment. I am the VP of Events for the Sociology/Anthropology Student Association, part of the community outreach team for Relay for Life, and co-founder of Our Third Place, an initiative to provide free ‘Third Places’ in Ottawa. As councillor, I will ensure students have their voices not only heard, but reflected in our actions. I will close the gap between CUSA and students by creating spaces for students to meaningfully participate in the discussions that impact them. “A flourishing community takes a village.”

I am in my 3rd year of a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Sociology and Gender Studies, with a minor in Disability Studies. I have a particular interest in advocating for matters of accessibility, since I believe there are gaps that need to be addressed in regards to disability inclusion at Carleton. I am also interested in ensuring that there are avenues for the general student population to have a voice in the association’s decision making, since we need an association that is representative of all student voices.

Hi! I’m Mariam Ibrahim, a second-year Psychology BA student at Carleton. I’m excited to be running for CUSA because I want to be more involved in the community I’m a part of and help make student life more fun and welcoming. I’m someone who values listening to others and making sure everyone feels included. I’m excited for the opportunity to meet more of you and bring your ideas to the table. I hope to make my time at Carleton, and yours, more memorable.

Hello! My name is Aj, I am running for CUSA councillor as a faculty of arts and social sciences representative! I am a double major in political science and anthropology. If there are any issues you’d like me to raise, feel free to let me know!

My Name is John McTeer. I am a second-year Childhood and Youth Studies major with a minor in law. A few things about me: I am the president of the Childhood and Youth Studies Student Association, and I am a team lead for Chonk Nation. I enjoy running, hiking, camping, and rock climbing, and I also enjoy theatre. I would make a great candidate for one of the counselors for FASS because I am very passionate about helping all students, making sure all their voices are heard, and making sure we all have a fun and successful time at university.
