CUSA Attends 2024 Bell Lecture: Meet and Greet with Jagmeet Singh, Leader of the New Democratic Party

On Tues. April 30th, Members of CUSA’s advocacy team attended the annual Dick, Ruth, and Judy Bell Lecture hosted by the Arthur Kroeger College of Public Affairs. The lecture was held at the Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre in Downtown Ottawa.

At the lecture, students and faculty alike heard from the keynote speaker, the Hon. Jagmeet Singh, Leader of the Federal New Democratic Party. In his speech, Mr. Singh outlined his leadership philosophy, characterized by the concept of Chardi Kala, and the importance of holding large corporations accountable in the face of the cost-of-living crisis.

CUSA’s team had the opportunity to speak to Mr. Singh, and ask pertinent questions during a live Q&A. We communicated our concerns regarding the current cap on international enrolment, and how the NDP caucus plans to help make life more accessible and welcoming for international students in Canada.
