Ottawa, ON, October 7, 2026 – As an organization built by and for Carleton students, CUSA’s operations are rooted in the belief that Carleton students’ voices should drive the selection of its leadership.
With this in mind, CUSA is planning a Presidential by-election once the current Council by-elections have concluded. The Presidential by-election will provide Carleton students with the opportunity to democratically choose CUSA’s next President through a process that centres their voices and ideas. Further information about the process and timing of the Presidential by-election will be shared with students and the media following the finalization of those details at the next Council meeting.
Until then, CUSA’s Board Chair, Alex Simion, will act as CUSA’s spokesperson. He will be advised by CUSA’s Council Speaker, Board of Directors, Executive Council, and Senior Management. CUSA’s Executive Council and Senior Management are working closely to ensure the responsibilities of the Presidency are carried out without interruption during this period.
The Executive Vice Presidents continue to advance CUSA’s work on behalf of students across a range of priorities including affordability, safety, development opportunities, and multifaceted advocacy. We remain focused on delivering results for students and ensuring their voices continue to shape the student experience at Carleton.
CUSA’s day-to-day operations have also continued without interruption. Students can continue to access all CUSA services and supports, and are able to engage with the organization as usual.
