Sexual Assault Awareness Week 2017

It’s time to talk about Consent.
Sexual Violence is present on our university campus and the only way to combat it is to talk about it. This week of programming is brought to you by Carleton Equity Services, Graduate Students’ Association, Carleton University, CUSA Womyn’s Centre.
12-2 pm — Tabling in the Atrium– This is a great chance to get some much needed information about the services available to survivors of sexual violence.
12- 1:30 pm — GHB, Memory and Sexual Assault– This presentation from Dr. Kari Sampsel who is the Medical Director for the Sexual Assault and Partner Abuse Care Program at the Civic Hospital. She will discuss the effects of GHB’s (Gamma-hydroxybutyrate) a common date rape drug. It will help you identify if someone has been drugged and what you should do.
6-9 pm — Violence and Trans Women of Colour: The Intersections– Join us for a discussion of how race and gender identity intersect to compound violence.
12-2 pm — Mini Research Conference: featuring Dr. Dawn Moore– Students and faculty doing research on a subject relating to consent and sexual violence are invited to discuss their research and provide feedback!
11-3 — Healing Through Paint — We will be in the Womyn’s Centre using paint as a method of healing. Frop by to paint a creation for the Consent Art Show that night!
1:30-2:30 — Upstander-Bystander Intervention Program — learn effective ways to intervene in instances of sexual violence! Be an ally! Held in the Frontenac Multi-Purpose Room
8:30- 11 — Consent Art and Poetry Night– We are accepting submissions of poetry and art for our consent themed art show.
2-4 pm — Workshop: How to Support a Friend– This workshop facilitated by Equity Services will take place in the Womyn’s Centre and help us understand how to support a friend who discloses sexual violence.
7-9 pm– Keynote: Farrah Khan
