Queering Black History Month

February 13, 2017 @ 3:00 pm - February 17, 2017 @ 6:00 pm

It’s BLK SZN at Carleton, and you know what that means! Dope black queers letting you know that we exist and that we are awesome. Join us for a week of queer programming during BLK SZN, but make sure to also check out REC Hall’s event page here: https://www.facebook.com/events/212791822525186/

Monday, February 6 at 6pm in BECs: A discussion on racial violence against trans women and how allies can do their part in lessening the oppression trans women of colour face.

Monday, February 13 at 6pm in the GSRC: Join us for a movie screening of the film Tangerine, a great story about black trans sex workers and their attempts to make space for themselves in their world. Bonus points: Tthere isn’t a tragic ending!

Friday, February 17 at 2pm in the GSRC: Ottawa hairstylist Paula Whitelock will be giving a workshop on natural hair care! If you’re curious about how to maintain and style black hair, this is the event for you!

Friday, February 17th at 5pm: Two service centre users will be coordinating a discussion on blackness and BDSM. If you’re tired of racism in the kink community and need somewhere to talk about it, this is sure to be a great space. Afterwards there will be a social at Mike’s place with some free snacks!

Feel free to share and talk about the event!
