September 20, 2017 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

CUSA – Carleton University Students’ Association, Inc., Carleton University Student Experience Office, RRRA (Rideau River Residence Association), Carleton University Office of Student Affairs and Carleton Equity Services are happy to present:

Farrah Khan as a speaker this year for BeFOREPLAYask, CUSA’s sexual violence awareness week.

Farrah Khan picked up a microphone to speak out about sexual assault as a teenager and has not put it down since. She has spent the last seventeen years working diligently to raise awareness of gender-based violence through art creation, education, counseling and community development. Farrah is a nationally recognized public speaker and educator on violence against women including sexual violence, forced marriage and “honor” related violence. She holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Toronto and works at Ryerson University as the Sexual Violence Support and Education coordinator. Farrah is also an artist who uses prose, video, and craft to explore the intersections of migration, faith, and community.

More about Farrah Khan can be found on her website:

In the event she will be touching on the topics of consent, sexual violence in the university context, the role of intersectionality in sexual violence and survivors support. She will also answer questions after her talk.

The event will be held in Fenn Lounge from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and admission is FREE! – No RSVP Required
